Brent Jordan
October 2005 marked the
beginning of a raw treasure hunter. A dedicated
employee began his service to a special organization
dedicated to Kids at Hope, but the path there was
winding.
Brent Jordan was born in
Tacoma, and grew up in the city’s North End. He
attended Downing Elementary School and joined the
Gonyea Boys and Girls Club in the early 80’s. It
was at that club he learned valuable life lessons,
as well as how to swim. He graduated from
Bellarmine Prep in 1997, went on to Tacoma Community
College, before transferring on to the University of
Washington Tacoma. In 2002, he received his
Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and
Sciences with an emphasis in Technology.
After a couple of jobs where he
was trying to find himself, Brent did; with the
birth of his first child. At that same time, an
opportunity at the Boys and Girls Clubs of South
Puget Sound opened. As a devout father, he accepted
a part-time position as the BOTT Lab Director for
the South End branch, so he could help care for his
daughter and help out with his father’s business.
Within the organization, Brent
was able to accept a full-time position as the BOTT
Lab director for the BGCSPS East Side Branch. When
the BOTT Lab director position opened at D.A. Gonyea,
Brent transferred to Gonyea and returned to the club
he grew up at. He has since moved back to the North
End, and finds it wonderful to be able to work with
youth and make a difference in his community. |
