Gene Anderson
Gene is an alumni of the South End Boys Club, He attended Pierce College and receive an AA in Recreation Administration and then Eastern Washington University where he received his BA in Recreation Administration.
Gene began his career at the East Side Side Boys Club in 1979 as a Physical Fitness Director. In 1981 he move his career to the Gonyea Branch and became Branch Director in 1995.
Gene has received specialized Training and holds a BGCA Management Training Certification and an Academy of Professionals Executive Level. He is a Washington State Department of Corrections- Group Life Counselor, Washington State Department of Fisheries- Certified Instructor, has a ACEP/NYSCA Coaches Certification and a Washington State Department of Licensing- Class C License.
Under Gene’s leadership staff & members of his club have received many Certificates and Awards, such as - BGCA Honors Award for Program Excellence- Sports, Fitness, and Recreation (2001-2002), Program Excellence Award in Social Recreation (1989-90), National Neighborhood Night Out Award- 2001, Washington State Youth of the Year (1981/2001), National Fine Arts Finalist (2000), National Photography Contest Finalist (1983)
Hobbies: Fishing, digital photography, family time, and service to others
