Jeff Mullens

When Jeff first graduated from high school, he started to wonder what his place in the world would be. He was bothered by the lack of respect he saw in many of the people he encountered. He gave considerable thought to the concept of helping kids. Jeff knew that our youth were the key to the future and that if he could make a difference in their lives, the world would be a better place. In the spring of 1995, while attending Tacoma Community College, Jeff heard about the Boys & Girls Clubs from someone in the guidance office. Jeff decided to visit the East Side Branch to apply for a volunteer position. He immediately went to work in the concession stand, and a short three months later was offered the Day Camp Counselor position. Jeff's first day was one he will never forget! The camp kids seemed to follow him wherever he went and he felt like the Pied Piper...

From that day on Jeff realized he wanted to influence the lives of young people. Since then, he has held the position of Social & Recreation Director and Program Director. Jeff 's entire career has been with The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound and he is very grateful for the training and career growth opportunities that he has experienced working for the Boys & Girls Clubs. He is particularly grateful to Ashley Bright for the mentorship role she played in his life. Jeff works with the children and families of his community because he knows the importance of character foundation. Jeff is a member of the Boys and Girls Club Professional Academy, receiving recognition as a Youth Development Professional. He is also considered the organization Smart Moves program expert because of the numerous trainings he has attended and his long-time experience in running these programs. Jeff is proud of the fact that he is a Youth Development Professional and loves his work!
