Mike
Hu
Mike Hu was born in
Taipei, Taiwan. At the age of thirteen, he and his
family immigrated to the United States. Mike lived
in Fairfield, San Francisco for seven years until he
moved to Washington State in 1991.
Mike started his
career early at the age of twenty-one as an owner of
the Chinese restaurant in Tacoma. Mike learned many
valuable lessons from his restaurant working
experiences that has affected his life
significantly. He watched, he learned and he
acted. Mike’s working philosophy was “do more, talk
less”. At that time, he spent 12 hours working at
the restaurant everyday, and after work, he found a
little time to pick up his old hobby – fixing
computers. He enjoyed working on computers and
studied a lot of computer related books during his
spare time. In 1999, he decided to sell his
restaurant to explore more possibilities in the
computer field as his career.
In 2000, John
Franich, the CTO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South
Puget Sound, offered a great volunteer opportunity
for Mike as his first step to enter the computer
world. He was hired as a Webmaster after weeks of
volunteering at the Boys & Girls Clubs of South
Puget Sound. Ever since then, his life has totally
changed. Mike and computers are connected. His
great passion for computer technology has been
increasing day by day and he really enjoys taking
challenges and helping people to solve computer
problems.
For Mike, the Boys
& Girls Clubs of Sound Puget Sound is like a mutual
school, everyone learns from each other. Life is
about learning. He knows he will always love his
computer career and will keep devoting himself to
help more people in need.
