Rick has been involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound since 1957 as a member until he graduated from high school in 1969 from Mount Tahoma High School. He worked at the South End Branch while in attending Tacoma Community College and graduating with a B.A. degree in Social Work from Pacific Lutheran University in 1974.
Shortly after graduating from PLU in 1974 he joined Pierce County Homes for Youth as a counselor for juvenile court ordered male group home residents.
In September 1975 he joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Tacoma and Pierce County as the Program Director at the South End Club where he was a youth member from age 6 to 17. In 1978 he became the Branch Director of the South End Club until 1997.
In 1997 he became the Director of Operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Pierce County before becoming Chief Operating Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. In 2008, Rick became the President / CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. During this time he has been instrumental in guiding and developing the organization’s Strategic Plan along with the Board of Directors. He has been influential in developing, implementing and managing many components of the organization, including but not limited, to Human Resources, Facilities, Programs, Board and Volunteer Development, Strategic Alliances, Measuring and Tracking Organizational Progress. Rick still takes time out to enjoy many activities with our youth, including the recent honor of being the 2007 Grand Floral Daffodil Parade’s Grand Marshal.
Mr. Guild currently resides with his wife of 34 years on Anderson Island in Pierce County.
