POSITIONS:
Program Specialist – 21st Century CLC
Grant
RATE OF PAY: $15.00 per hour,
25 hours a week.
LOCATIONS:
West Sound Clubs
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Program Director
or his/her designee, a program specialist plans, organizes,
implements, supervises and evaluates all programs and activities
provided in a specific program area. These include, but are not
limited to, coordinating all aspects of the 21st
Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) Program
at the specified branch.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound
has secured a 21st CCLC Grant from the U.S.
Department of Education. Objectives of the 21st CCLC
Grant are as follows:

Increase
student achievement in state and local state standards
-
Reduce
barriers to learning and success
-
Reduce
educational barriers among parents to help them become more
involved in their child’s life.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Coordinate with 21st CCLC staff to ensure
that all mandated outcomes are achieved.

Document
and track progress made by students participating in the
21st CCLC program.

Promote
safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of
the branch at all times.
Provide guidance and role modeling to
members.
Promote and stimulate 21st CCLC
program participation, welcome new members and participate in
their orientation process.
Participate in weekly branch staff meetings
as required.
Assure that there is a daily written schedule
and that 21st CCLC activities begin and end on time.
Prepare weekly reports for the Branch
Director about activities, special programs, attendance and
other reports as required.
Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of
the program area at all times.
Maintain close daily contact with club staff,
club members, supervisor and volunteers to receive/provide
information, discuss issues, and understand
guidelines/instructions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

AA Degree or higher in related field from an accredited
college.
·
Strong communication skills
·
Strong interpersonal relationship skills
·
Experience working with youth and adolescents
·
Must pass National Criminal Background Check
·
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
·
CPR/First Aid training – able to obtain on the job
·
Valid drivers license, dependable
vehicle and agency required vehicle liability limits
·
Some recreational experience
·
Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm
· Ability
to be consistent and encourage honesty, responsibility,
fairness, sportsmanship and respect for all involved
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position regularly involves lifting,
bending, standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching,
grasping and some running. This position works around youth and
adults with a moderate exposure to noise. This position also
works indoors and outdoors.
